I love you like a fat kid love cakemeet me at the club...its goin down. 19 novembre Taiwan Day 5
<<<Temporarily took pictures down as they are not rendering correctly, be back soon!>>> Up early, taxi is here to pick up Uncle Joseph to the city.
Lunchtime! Time for a lil Thai and Viet...
I'm not the only one who loves MJ.
"Yeliu is a 1.7-kilometer-long cape that juts into the sea, where wave erosion, weathering, and the action of the earth's crust have combined to create sea-eroded trenches, candlestick rocks, mushroom rocks, bean curd rocks, beehive rocks, potholes, dissolved basins, and all sorts of other fantastic rock formations. Among the most spectacular and famous results of erosion here are those named Queen's Head Rock, Fairy Shoe, and Candlestick Rock."
Being right on the coast, you gotta eat seafood. Shrimp, bamboo, noodle, eel, crab.
Using the MRT again, we love it!
Time to hit the night market and tonight we go to Shilin Night Market the most famous and biggest in Taiwan.
Coming home to the fishies. 8 novembre Taiwan Day 4
<<<Took picture temporarily down as they were not rendering correctly, be back soon!>>>
Up early, we hit the bakery right outside the hotel...even the bakeries are so much better here.
Today we visit the Chiang Kai Shek Memorial somewhere I have been numerous times but always glad to go back. Check out this very cool aerial view to have some idea the size of it all. CKS like Dr. Sun Yat Sen not only are revered heroes of China and Taiwan, but affected the world in a truly positive way. They are excellent reads and worth the read if you choose to do so. The whole place is going through serious renovation.
Dr. Sun Yat Sen (right side) and his Chief of Staff General Chiang Kai Shek (left side) at the Canton Railway Station July 6, 1923. They are planning the northern expedition that led to China's unification in 1928. This is one of my favorite pictures I took of the whole trip. It is a huge painting that covers the wall and is the first presentation you see as you walk into the Hall.
A nearby restaurant where Generals eat, no, not Tso.
Time to shop, and we go to a well known spot XIMENDING where there are trendier stores and a favorite spot for teenagers.
Longhsan Temple heavily traffiked by locals for worship. This temple was even bombed by Americans during WWII.
Known worldwide, Snake Alley. Its so notorious you can't find it on Wikipedia. We went before it opened for the night. It has toned down its "attractions" greatly because of international pressure. To got a great deal on chinese outfits for her nephews.
Back to the house, and we find a lightsaber...
And REALLY liked it...
The Worship Room. Don't they look so harmonious?
DINNERTIME. I always look forward to eating.
And what better way to finish an awesome day, but to play MJ for 5 hours with Grandma, Auntie, Cuz, WE WANT MORE! WE WANT MORE! WE WANT MORE! Thank you baby... 2 novembre Taiwan Day 3
<<<Temporarily took pictures down as they are not rendering correctly, be back soon!>>> HAPPY 90TH BIRTHDAY GRANDMA!!!!!!!! After a couple soy lattes, we do one of our favorite things (walk through the alleys!) and find a place that specializes in bread. She of course went healthy and ordered healthy whole rye and I got flat french foccacia. Blueberry cream cheese dip with mine, and the server recommended a hot salmon type of dip for her. It was most scrumptious. Lunchtime! A MUST DO every trip back to Taiwan (and now LA, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong and who knows where else) you have to go to DIN TAI FUNG my favorite type of food to eat in the world. You have not had real chicken soup until you come here, or Taiwan for that matter. Almost every meal we have chicken soup. Anyways, the dumplings...so delicate, each prepared with serious attention to detail and love, my little precious...all to be devoured, I mean enjoyed with the biggest smile on my face. My favorite fried rice also is here, made the real way, NO PEAS! The Pork Chop was ridiculously AWESOME. Even Greens taste so much better, I'm not making this up.
Beautiful flowers for Grandma.
Dinnertime and my stomach is still full. It was a great family birthday with my grandparents.
Look at my juice, straight kiwi! Taiwan Day 2
<<<Temporarily took pictures down as they are not rendering correctly, be back soon!>>> Ok, so writing about the days may be too involving so I'm gonna try just posting a few captions of each day with captions and see how that goes. These pictures are all resized automatically by the site and I have the big version better quality version of each picture if you want any of them. To has a thing for shoes, and because she's my "em" we had to take this picture.
We didn't get our laptop going in the hotel room this morning so I had to rush to an Internet Cafe to get my fantasy football moves in! and of course we have to check mail, read news and check some website out called Myspace.
The BEST BUBBLE TEA EVER. The cup is chilled for a year before they serve it to you with milk tea in it. I NEED my bubble tea to be cold and chilled! Mine was Jasmine, and To had a Sesame one, wow it was so gooooood.
Taipei 101. Tallest Building in the world. Amazing, and the shopping inside had every store a female would want...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taipei_101
We're so gangster we walked 91 floors. Well, somehow I got to experience the fastest elevator in the world too, 24 seconds to the 90th floor and 10 of those seconds were used to slow the elevator down.
My cousin Howard is the best Host you could ask for.
The underground Mass Transit is unbelievable. Very easy to read, clean, safe. Best of all, my phone had full bars reception. Is that gangster or what.
Thank you God for the food in Taiwan.
So much, exploring, walking, talking, eating, we all feel like this at the end of the day. 22 octobre Taiwan Day 1Grandma's 90 Year Birthday!!! And still very much the beautiful diva as you'll see.
Eva Airlines here we come, my favorite airline cuz of the cute green uniforms they wear!
My cousin Louie and I are just craving traditional Chinese Breakfast. Hot soybean milk, "doh jiang" can be had as salty or sweet hot or cold of which you dip crispy chinese donut wrapped in long baked buns covered in toasted sesame seeds, called "shao bing", YUM. Green Onion/Scallion with egg wrapped in a very thin flour tortilla called egg pancake also called "dahn bing"...sticky rick filled with sweet red bean paste. Steamed buns with juicy pork containing chicken broth all inside the bun is my #1 favorite thing to eat called "shao loong baos" translating to small dragon pouches (yes they look like the regular dumplings you see in america, but trust me there is only fake chinese food in america, this is the real thing of which you need to actually taste to see what I mean). These mom and pop shops can be found everywhere in Taipei in the alleys off main streets. They are a staple amongst culinary feasts many open 24hrs a day. It was most enjoyable.
Next on the itinerary is going to Grandpa's daily ritual of seeing the changing of the guards at Dr. Sun Yat Sen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_Yat-sen) Memorial Hall (http://www.yatsen.gov.tw/en/). Dr. Sun Yat Sen is a once in a lifetime man, considered the father of modern China. His life was one of "constant sturggle and frequent exile." This is about a 8 block walk (we do miles and miles of walking in Taipei, To likes to equate it to New York where everyone walks and takes mass transit. It was great and much needed cardio seeing that we ate SO MUCH). Outside the Memorial there is a long path of rocks imbedded into concrete. The purpose is self "foot massage" as you take your shoes off and walk along the path. Forward, backwards, sideways, you see the veterans move fast, but for us, we are slow and its a painful process. The foot has many pressure points though and is very therapeautic so we continue to do it, especially with To not feeling up to par right now. After she did it she felt tons betters. Kristina can handle the foot massage a bit longer then me so she and To have a whirl at it.
The Memorial Park is more then just an observatory, but a place of gathering, practice, and exercise. People are doing tai chi, ballroom dancing, kung fu, hip hop dancing, jogging, etc...Many are in their own groups following a teacher. It was quite the spectacle. You can see people really know how to enjoy life here and how versatile the people are. My aunt is also doing Tai Chi here, she is just learning but very quickly.
The walk back we notice how completely different it is with traffic and noise, from arriving at the hotel and walking the streets at 730am with no traffic and just quiet to now 1030am and a hustlin busy city. Next up is lunch with the family. It was the best dim sum ever. I don't like dim sum at all in the states, but here in Taiwan, ITS JUST SO DIFFERENT. Lunch is in our hotel on the second floor, round 27 people. To and I are beginning to wonder if we are at the wrong place as noone has showed up yet. Uncle Joseph shows and waits and we take a few pictures outside the restaurant.
Dinner we meet up with Dad and he takes us to a Japanese restaurant well known on the island. Always packed with a line, you start jotting down ur orders while in line so by the time you sit the food is nearly ready and of course they get that great turnover. They are well known for their unagi over rice, and big and plump tempura. It's the best tempura I've ever had. Unfortunatly I didn't get a picture of it because I dug in and forgot and you know I can't take pictures with the food already dug into...
After dinner, Dad always like some coffee and Dante's becomes a local franchise we begin to frequent throughout the trip. A different taste, and like my dad says, "you didn't travel this far to have Starbucks."
7 décembre James KimI watched the news today, as the police announced that they had found James Kim. When the officer was about to release the actual news James had passed, he broke down.
What amazes me is the human spirit, how a human who never met the other, can lose touch with their emotions. We don't have enough of this in the world today. People who appreciate what they have and embrace it. People are too busy scurrying around doing what society says is important, rather then taking a breath, and to see what is around you. People like this officer, the department, the volunteers who rally and commit to find James Kim is why humanity survives. There is good out there, and there is purity. Though hard to see at times, the glimpses are refreshing. There is a lack of empathy that exists too often in society.
When I think of James Kim, I think of the love he had for his family. The moment he made the decision to leave the car...and his family. To search for rescue, to brave the wilderness, to endure the freezing temperature. Knowing, there was a slight chance he would never see them again. The kiss he gave his wife, his children. With every confident intention that he'd see them again. The last moments of seeing into each other's souls through their eyes. That inlet to their souls is what keeps his spirit alive, bright, and burning in that wilderness. It will never go out. He traveled 8 miles from the car in the forest, ultimatly the journey ending only a mile from his family. He never had hat or gloves. He began to shed his clothes as biologically his body was shutting down giving him the illusion he was overheating. I can only imagine what was going on in James' mind. But I can guess that he knew the end was near. Did he ever lose hope? Doubt it. What kept him alive was his heart, the images, the feelings, the soul of his family. In his final moments, do you think he met God? I believe yes. Did God tell him his family was saved? And then release him from his physical pain? I believe yes. Did he see the chopper soar over his car for the rescue...no doubt. Did he leave this world happy? One could say yes. Did he kiss them one more time.
When I first saw the story about the family missing, I never stopped hoping for them. Then, the man left to save his most sacred treasure. He did what he thought had to be done. He died for their survival. The headlines say, "Rescue crews come up just short." They did not. His family lives on, and through them so does he. 11 septembre Halo2 and othersThis goes out to my dawg, MATT BOND. You know this past weekend was business as usual. Give me time to practice something I'm interested in, talk shit to me, and see what happens.

You're still my dawg. 11 août Human NatureI watched "The Myth" again last night for the upteenth time. Awesome movie, cinematography is breathtaking, the cast is excellent. A Jackie Chan production costing in the hundreds of millions of us dollars biggest production ever for Asia. Filming took place in India, Hong Kong, and Inner China. Costumes were ridiculous, even the horses were studded out.
Two people to watch from this movie in the future...Kim Hee Seon, Mallika Sherawat. LOOKOUT!!!
I love movies that show the "old" meaning it was part modern day, and part old school. The Qin Dynasty era was all over this movie. So many things from the old days that I like are missing today...Integrity, nobility, true purpose. You live and die by the code. People nowadays get away with too much. Anyways, that can be a discussion for a whole nother thread.
One thing that really stuck out in the movie for me is a line, "Greed is Human Nature. Greed drives our thirst for knowledge." I've always said greed runs the world ever since probably before I was 10. It is a natural, innate thing we are born with. Just like "Original Sin." Without this notion of "Greed" (keep in mind that is a human word attributed to the actual notion we gave it. Just like religion is to the notion of a higher being. Both words, greed and religion I've always felt are interchangable with each other as they are the downfalls of man in many cases) mankind would never evolve.
It is greed that gives us purpose: To establish religions (cuz mine is way better then your's now lets kill for it), to establish civilization (so I can have more people, thus spawn more military, thus crush you), to research (so we can make weapons), to militarize zones (so we can put our stake in different parts of land around the world to show you don't f with me), even to copulate as often as possible (to increase our bloodlines so we are immortal. Genghis Khan is the greatest conquerer ever, 1 in 200 people today can trace their lineage back to him). Greed is why we have nations instead of being one collective human entity. We want to seperate to define our existence, we want to establish superiority, we want to conquer you spiritually, mentally, and physically if need be (DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR TO ANY OF YOU RELIGIOUS PEOPLE???).
It is ironic that Greed has driven mankind to evolve, evolve in the sense that we are the only species in Earth's history able to "Extinct ourselves" through pollution, war, and galactic catastrophe, yet at the same time have the means to save ourselves. 4 novembre um, WOW. and I'll be in Vegas tonight..![]() Aries
March 21 - April 19 You have a great deal of power at your disposal today, dear Aries, and you should keep in mind that just about anything you wish for will come true. Don't be wasteful with your words or actions. Concentrate your energy and focus it towards one or two things, instead of letting it disperse, thereby diluting your overall power. There is nothing to be afraid of on a day like this. 3 novembre hmmmm![]() Aries
March 21 - April 19 There is a strong wave of power coming your way, so be careful of how you handle it, dear Aries. You are extra prone to injuries and accidents of an explosive nature, so try not to make any hasty moves while driving, and extinguish all cigarettes when operating near a gas pump or propane tanks. Used properly, however, today's planetary energy can help you tackle just about any obstacle that is put in front of you. The choice of how you deal with the energy is yours. 10 août Got the fever backIts been a while since I updated my MSN Space. Got a mail from a buddy about a few new features so I thought I'd give it a go. Not bad, gearing toward myspace now which is the right direction since they are the dominators for now.
I'm back into golf. I am such a nerd about it now I think about it like everyday, what a dork. Up until last month, I haven't been on the course for 2-3 years. My second round out I already got a birdie! I've been out 5 times now in the past few weeks with rounds of 106, 103, 99, 106 (I shot 61 on the front 9 mainly because of freakish lost balls that were not that bad, just couldn't find them, but thats what you get for not hitting the fairways, but I rebounded with a 45 on the back 9!), and finally most recently a 95. First round was at Jefferson, decent course and we were paired with a Boeing guy and he was naming every plane taking off since Jefferson is pretty much under the flight path of Seatac Airport, it was cool for a while but he kept going and it got annoying. Next 2 rounds were at West Seattle. Wow, sweet course, awesome views, can't wait to be back. Last two rounds were at Druids Glenn. That place is deep, in Covington! But well worth the drive, numerous holes you are driving straight into Mount Rainier as the backdrop. The carts are hella tight, quiet, solid, and with a GPS system, you can't beat that. Oh, and $1 beers?!?!?! Thats top notch. 9 juin WTF is wrong with messenger?Hmmm, can someone tell me wtf is wrong with my messenger? People be telling me they can't get through to me...grrrrrrr 22 mai FriendsSome take it for granted, some don't. I'm so happy that I was reunited with one this past weekend. The strength and courage it takes for some people to make it through a single day sometimes is never spoken of or seen. No smoke and mirrors here, just faith. There are some parallels in life everyone share, just in different confinements. Knowing the things you do have, knowing the things you question. Knowing what you can/should/sacrifice for, knowing ones you need to clean house of. Things happen for a reason, some you chose for, some you didn't, just don't waste the opportunities within them. Thank you SO MUCH crew for making the road trip with me, if y'all didn't I for sure would have had to stay overnight, I had so much fun! You guys are the truth. 20 mai Sonic BoomWell, what a season. Being picked to finish as a bottomfeeder in the Western Conference, your Seattle Supersonics blew out expectations and brought you the Northwest Division Crown. Everyone, including me who followed the NBA last year knew the Sonics were going to struggle to get the last seed in the playoffs this year, instead, they gifted us the #3 seed. With the pending cloud of 7 or more free agents on our team and a "lame" coach, it was looking bleak. Instead, Mac-10 somehow brought this team together enough that the sum of their individual performances resulted in great chemistry and execution. What can you say about the 2005 Sonics? Here are my thoughts: The emergence of Reggie "The Collector" Evans as a premier rebounder was huge. Go work on your free throws beginning tomorrow, and you WILL play in the 4th quarter Reg, your my favorite Sonic. You play with heart, passion, hustle, pride, and sheer joy. I would lose with you anytime as a teammate. Danny "The Regulator" Fortson, brought the muscle and pain everynight. Cluth free throw shooting everynight, huge boards, miraculous putbacks and 1's. A Few dumb flagrants and T's but did bring huge valuable minutes. Nick Collison, the "gorilla" man. Long ass lanky arms, dunks, athleticism, solid D, soft shot, intelligence, this guy is gonna become a force for many years to come, a steal at the 12 pick in the draft. Sleepy Jerome James. So much talent and size. Woke up a bit in the playoffs and was huge in the SAC series and did a decent job on TD, at least when he realized stupid fouls would keep him from playing more minutes. Soft silky shot for a big man. But no fundamentals for playing D. Always looking for the block (easily losing defensive position because of it), pump faked outta your ass most of the time, and lazy stretches of mental/physical play will keep you from reaching your true potential. Go home and watch the tapes and analyze yourself Jerome. Work on your footwork and you could become a "mini-Shaq." Or, I'll just see you at the Muckle tonight? AD. Antonio Daniels. Can anyone question his heart? The guy grooms the future Skywalker in Luke and takes going to the bench in stride the year before he becomes a free agent. Directs the offense like a coach on the floor plays solid D, and hits the mid jumpers in so many crucial moments of the season. Slicing drives, body sacrificing all night long. I hope you come back! Vladimir "Frankenstein" Radman. The euro sharpshooter from hell who just throws daggers in hearts with long arching rainbows. Too bad a turtle could drive past you for an easy layup. You do play hard though, and relentlessly breathe through your mouth like there's no tomorrow, LOL. How bout you and Jerome work on your footwork together this offseason, or are you gonna work on your braids? Luke the dimemaster. The inconsistent jumper most likely because of your youth and first year as a starter. The dimes are "precisive" (like that word?), undebatable handles. The future of the Sonics. Work on that D though Luke, you can't always rely on letting the guy past you and swiping the ball sometimes from behind as the shot goes up. Shard. First time ALL STAR. Things finally coming together, the aresnal of the 3 and deep perimeter shooting combined with lethal post moves, invaluable. Stretches defenses, forces team fouls, and takes pressure off the #1 option. RAY RAY. Without Mr. He Got Game, we, the Sonics, are at least 12 victories less. The quickest jumper in the league, improbable drives using the lefty or right, the rise up on Nesterovic slam. The ownage you laid out almost everynight against opposing guards made us a contender. Matched up against the 2nd best defender in the league this last series, you still put up solid numbers. Your new team the Cavs will be near #1 seeds next year as you, AD, and the BRON, bring the pain, along with Mac-10??? Maybe Sund will realize how important you are to Seattle's Hoop Dreams and eliminate the 5 million dollar difference in opinion that currently exists. Or maybe we go young, and get Joe Johnson. Maybe we let Jerome and Reg go and bring in Tyson Chandler or Eddy Curry? Or is Pau Gasol coming to town? Larry Hughes? Nah. Why are the Celtics interested in Swifty? Man, we could have a completly new team next year. Luke at the helm, Joe at the 2, Shard at the 3, Nick 4, Pau at the 5. Goodbye to Reg, Sleepy J, Frankenstein, Flip, Vitamin, Ray Ray. Oh yea, AD comes off the bench unless he wants to win a title with BRON, along with Damien Wilkins and the Regulator, with Swifty getting more minutes. With noone else but MAC -10 calling the plays. Rick Sund, YOU ARE ON THE CLOCK. 29 avril Moving, one of the great events of lifeNOT. But it is that time again, can't believe it's been 15 months here at the Dexter Lake Union. Some say its going back to the roots, as they are used to me in chitown, so here I go, to the Mosaic Apartments. We don't need to list the reasons why we hate moving, but a few of the good things are you get to do inventory of what you have. Finding new things to throw away, and coming across those "lost treasures" you forgot you had. Looking forward to the change, goodbye to the biatch tenant below me, the penthouse rent, and oh yea, the penthouse rent. Great times here though, new and more to come in the "ID." 25 avril SpiesSpies...spies everywhere. Is this what its like to maintain national security? People got ISSUES when you have to check out places to see if you're going to be there when you say you're NOT going to be there, or parking outside apartments to take snapshots and seeing who's there...WTF. There's no other words to describe it other then WTF?!?!?!!? Unless you're playing for the other team...which don't matter anyways cuz there ain't nuttin to hide. Fryin my head man. Whats wrong with u people? Talk all that game and front and do that lame ass shit. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Act like you're Great Danes when all u is are puppies who need petting, go find someone else to do it. 15 mars Counting down the days...You and I TJ, lets do itTo all my 20's I've loved before,
Where the Remy at.
3 mars What's up with these scalesWhat's up with these hard ass scales? What cracks me up is ppl who have hella high "grading scales" of the opposite sex yet they can't even get a phone number from a "6" let along a "hello." Come on now, get real. Some ppl need a reality check, especially when you get put in check all the time when you "holla." Damn, bring your reality down a few notches, cuz when you do/if get something, it ain't gonna be nothing but a "2." Sorry, just some pent up frustration for ppl who walk around like they're kings when they're just jesters. It's all good though, I don't mean to hate, and sorry if it sounds like this, but y'all know me, I ain't one to hide much words. Just keep it real and you'll live a happier life is what I'm trying to say. 20 février My turn to be sick...I guess it's my turn to get the bug. Food poisining/fever all in one. Yeh. 17 février My espressoFirst off, I must pay homage to my boy Joel Snow the Mullethunter or Napoleon's twin (I'm not kidding) for introducing me to the drink known as the "Americano." It's what I must have 98% of the time from Starbucks or Tullys or SBC or wherever. None of that "poofy" stuff where I gotta have foam, sugar flavoring, whip cream, soft batch cookie, sweetnlow, glorifying nonsense. I'm hard like that, hahaha. J/K. I love it because it saves me 2 bucks a day, way less calories, and pure. The funny thing is though, I LOVE DESSERT. Geez, what a hypocrite. What I do wonder though is, where/when will there be a Asiano (A-z-i-ano) drink? Why does it have to be "Americano?" Whats up Howard (Howard Schultz)? You know, I only sit 5 rows behind you to your left at the Sonics games, I think you need to lend me your ear. Give my people some love, create the "Asiano" or "Franko" since I'm copyrighting it right now and let me order a drink that relates more to me. It would be great marketing and solidfying market share as you grow your monopoly of coffee around the world! Instead of the 3 new stores you are opening everyday, it could be 6...just think about it...
My PredatorzThis one is dedicated to my "Predatorz." I swear, 75% of why I go clubbin with the crew is to watch, learn, laugh, admire, and just plain having a good time. Man, watching my wingmen in action is like paying to watch a movie. You learn to live with the highs and lows Watch out you sleek, sly, gazelles, the Lion King is on the prowl. 14 février Mmmmm, Mixing Alcohol and the SonicsYou would think by now, I would have learned my lesson not to mix alcohol, but then again, stubborness sets in. After all, I am the self proclaimed biggest Aries you'll ever know. Friday night, Coors Lights/Mac&Jacks/Jager/XO (or "OX" as Jay thought it was)/Tsing Tao. Didn't get sick, but boy was I feeling it... Saturday night, Jack&Coke/The Green Bottles/Tokyo Iced Teas. And that was enough, I think. No more Tokyo Iced Teas, that stuff is sickening. Man it was a Both nights were great times though, I wish people would stop forcing me to take pictures though, especially when I'm faded, dangit that girl Annie. When are the Sonics gonna sign Ray Ray? When are they gonna stop dickin around with him? Is it not obvious we need him focusing on the season then worrying about his contract status or getting traded? I'm glad he was ice cold tonight and we lost against the Mavs. Hey Sonics, SIGN Ray Ray cuz "He got Game." Mark Cuban has lost some serious weight. That guy is awesome, he knows business but also knows how to live and enjoy life. Just watch him watch his team and there is no owner more amped about his team. He's like a lil kid at the carnival. Dirk Nowitzki is a serious stud. That guy is just Huge. He is money from anywhere on the floor and is in my opinion, the biggest mismatch of the league. I wonder who would win a game of HORSE? The Diggler, Ray Ray, or Peja? Hey Louis, did you enjoy seeing AnnLee? Do you think she recognizes me by now? |
